a profession with traditional, cultural and artistic value.
Established in Gaziantep in 2017, KUTNİA has successfully revived the ancient art of weaving kutnu fabric - creating contemporary artisanal fabrics inspired by the heritage of Kutnu and the unique artistry of eastern Turkey.
Gaziantep has been the traditional home of Kutnu for centuries, but the special skills required to hand weave this precious fabric had declined to the point of extinction before the arrival of KUTNİA. The family of KUTNİA’s founder, Ms. Julide Konukogulu, has been a leading force in Turkish textiles for generations and it was her deep appreciation of traditional Turkish woven textiles which has been the driving force for Kutnia Crafted Fabrics.
What we have achieved?
PRESERVING THE HERITAGE
One of the most prominent aims of KUTNİA Crafted Fabrics was to turn the traditional kulnu fabric into a fabric that is suitable for today's mass production methods and can be used in various design areas.
As a result of our R&D studies carried out to achieve this goal, the weft and warp weights of the threads of the Kutnu fabric, which consists of rayon warp and cotton weft, were harmonized, preventing the openings in the weaving, and the width of the
Kutnu fabric, traditionally woven in 50 cm width, was increased to 100 cm, making it compatible with today's garment sewing. .
Again, within the scope of the same development studies, 140 cm wide upholstery fabrics and 100% cotton and cotton-floss fabrics can be woven, which enables the Kutnu fabric to be used in home textiles other than ready-made garments.
Continuing on its way with its increased production capacity and growing team, KUTNİA Crafted Fabrics supplies fabric to domestic and international markets within a deadline of 8 weeks after the order is placed.
